The Houck group's research utilizes circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) to explore both quantum computing and quantum simulation. The quantum computing side of the group explores creating new superconducting qubits for use in a quantum computer, rather than the implementation of small algorithms. Quantum simulation focusses on using superconducting resonators and qubits to simulate photonic lattices and explore condensed matter physics principles.
